In 1971, a committee of senior managers in Gilbeys of Ireland had the idea for a uniquely Irish drink reflecting Irelands heritage and agricultural and distilling traditions. Launched in 1974, Baileys reached the 1m case mark by 1979 and another 700,000 cases were added to this over the next five years. The 1990s saw Baileys become e cream used is delivered daily in insulated tankers and processed on the day it arrives and the Irish whiskey is triple distilled.
